Celebrating the array of vibrant cultures and fast paced rhythms of urban life, we wanted to embrace this by using rhythms derived from street drumming and dance music. Incoorporating this mixture of rhythmic DNA provided the video with pumping energy, giving motion to the spinning visuals. Initially I made a version of this track on sampled drums, however since it was the only instrument on track, it really lacked the ‘oomf’. So I notated everything and handed over the parts to be recorded by Alex Reeves at his north London studio who recorded the drums using specialty mic techniques and placements - giving the sound and immediate richness and flair. I later polished and mixed the track using only the finest compressors and dynamic processors available.
