SOUND UNBOUND

REVOLUTION 360

Concept

Having had a brief to present 'classical music through the ages' the concept is inspired by dendrochronoogy - the method of dating tree rings, which was conceived by Mike Roberts and executed by Electronic Music Studios from Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Process & Result

I was lucky enough to be envolved in the making of this project, including finding and editing specific pieces of music to play through the gramophones, through to installing them every day during the festival. This resulted in the gramophones playing music from 1600 - 1935.

CLASSIC HACKING: TOY SYMPHONY

Concept

You don't need an expensive violin to play some music right?

- Most of us already have things lying around the house that make sounds. By hacking into recycled toys and messing with the circuitry, I built my own instrument and used Ableton Live to add effects and pre-recorded loops.

Process & Result

Following the brief of classical music, I made a remix of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring and performed it with my hacked toy, as well as performing as part of the Toy Symphony.
